How to make French
toast:
Now I am starting to tell you how to make French toast at home with the best recipe. Okay so I am going to go over the ingredients here when I make French toast I like to use a the very wide flat bottom bowl that makes it a lot easier to dunk and dip the bread .
Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 3 quarter of cup of whole milk evaporated milk half and half
- Heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- ½ or 1 teaspoon splash of vanilla extract it up to you.
- A quarter teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch of freshly grated nutmeg. If you do not have nutmeg you can skip that but if you do have it a pinch of nutmeg really elevates the flavour of the creamy egg mixture
- 5 to 6 slice of bread. These slices are thick and large than regular bread. If you use regular bread you should be able to dunk around six slices of bread.
Instruction to make French
toast:
- So I am actually I suggest breaking the eggs on the side then adding them to your main bowl just in case you get a bad egg or just shell in it. After that, you have to break apart the yolk just a little bit.
- Now add half a cup of heavy cream and like I said above the whole milk works half and a half sometimes like to use evaporated milk because keep cans of it in my pantry
- Add the sugar this is a tablespoon
- Add around a quarter teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- Let's go with our freshly grated nutmeg and its just a pinch and now gently mix all the ingredients
- Now you will want to start preheating your griddle I am preheating on medium-low heat and you’ll want to gradually preheat your griddle if you start on high heat then you are going to burn the exterior of your French toast and the center is going to have new egg mixture so it’s a sort of a low and slow process and other things I probably do differently than most people or I don’t know I can't say I am the only one that does this I prefer to use cooking oil in place of butter,I just find cooking several pieces of French toast and butter ends ups scorching and burning in the pan so I do suggest oil It has a higher the smoke point that something I do when to make a French toast you can also try it.
- Now you just take your bread to dunk it on both sides now remember the longer you let it dunk and saturated its going to be a heavy piece of French toast and really soak in there and it’ll take a longer amount of time to cook so just kind of give it a quick dunk and then right onto your griddle.
- You have to cook this French toast about a minute or so on each side basically the key is to make sure the inside is cooked along with the outside without the outside burning. If you are not sure if the inside is cooked give it another flip go for another 30 seconds. And your French toast ready.
